Military Decorations

The Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross was the most highly valued combat decoration of the Third Reich.
The Knight’s Cross was therefore the highest gallantry award which Germany could bestow at the outbreak of the Second World War, and, on average, only one soldier per regiment might expect to win it.
