Set made up of rhodium and gold-plated sterling brooch and earrings, depicting a Medusa head with a face of gold-plated and rhodium-plated sterling hair with rhinestone pave. The clip earrings reproduce the same design, only in a smaller version. Brooch 6.3 x 6cm; earrings 3cm.
The brooch is marked Reja Sterling. The earrings are marked Reja Sterling Pat. Pend.
This item was described as “extraordinary” by WWD, 21s’ June 1946, which mentions it with its original name among the new items. The presented version is the original one, with a black enamel face. The design is unpatented and the Pat. Pend. mark on the earring clips refers to the clip mechanism.
The fine and elaborate workmanship of this item, especially of the fretwork headdress with rhinestone pave, is similar to that of the “Good Fairy” (R32.), which belongs to the same collection.
