Set made up of gold-plated sterling brooch and screwback earrings, with red enameled mouth, green and pink stones and rhinestones, depicting the head of a jester on a stilt. Brooch 9x3cm; earrings 2x2cm.
Brooch marked Reja Sterling; earrings marked Sterling.
The name “Court Jester” was used in an article that appeared in WWD, 10lh August 1945. in which Reja’s fall 1945 collection was praised thus: “particularly striking are the court jesters on long, thin stilts. According to the manufacturer of the brooches – of which there were two versions: a front and a profile view – they should be worn together”. The jesters were mentioned again in WWD, 11″‘ January 1946, together with the spring collection which also included, among others, the “Africana” series.
